Rahab
Episode 2- Rahab (Matthew 1; Joshua 2)
Rahab is a female icon of faith and she was a prostitute. She recognized the God of the Israelites was the one, true God and pledged her allegiance to God. Her testimony of faith saved the lives of 2 Israelite spies and rescued her family from death.
Ruth
Episode 3- Ruth (Matthew 1; Ruth)
In this episode we are exploring Ruth’s story because she is mentioned in Jesus’s genealogy in Matthew chapter 1. You can find more of Ruth’s story in the book of Ruth in the old testament in the Bible and you can find a link to the scriptures about Ruth in our show notes. I struggled putting together today’s episode because Ruth is awesome. She’s epic. She has her own book in the Bible and every single details about her life and her book in the Bible is significant. I’m going to do my best to narrow today’s show but I just wanted to be honest and say this is really hard and I feel like I’m not doing her justice. Maybe in a future show we can circle back to her story and spend several episodes unpacking her amazingness. Until then, know this: Ruth has an unyielding passion to live out her faith.

Episode 5- A Girl Restored and a Woman Healed (Matthew 9)
In this episode we are going to explore two stories in Matthew chapter 9 because the two stories are melded together by the author, Matthew. The story involves two different women. One is a young girl who dies and then is resurrected by Jesus. And the second woman in the story is a woman who had been menstruating for 12 years and at one touch Jesus heals her. Both of these women’s lives offer us this hope: when we are out of options and desperate for Jesus he is accessible to us.

Episode 6-The Canaanite Woman with a Demon-Possessed Daughter (Matthew 15)
In this episode we are exploring the story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew chapter 15. She has a demon-possessed daughter and comes to Jesus desperate for help and healing.
The Woman with the Alabaster Jar
Episode 7- The Woman with the Alabaster Jar (Matthew 26)
In this episode we are going to explore the story of a woman who anoints Jesus for his burial. You’ll find her story in Matthew chapter 26 and you can find a link to this passage in the show notes. What are about to see is a woman who understands what Jesus is saying when he predicts his death. This woman knows the appropriate, faithful response is to prepare Jesus with anointing oils. Her act of humility was also a signal that she was like the prophets of the Old Testament anointing kings for coronation.
Last at the Cross
Episode 8- Last at the Cross (Matthew 27)
In this episode we are exploring the story of three women mentioned in Matthew’s gospel in chapter 27. All three of these women are faithful disciples of Jesus. They’d traveled with Jesus and learned from his teaching. They go down in history as the last of the disciples to stay at the cross where Jesus was crucified. Or the way I like to summarize their faithfulness: they were last the cross and first at the tomb.
First at the tomb
Episode 9-First at the Tomb (Matthew 28)
In this episode we are going to revisit the story of the women who were last at the cross and setting up a vigil at Jesus’s tomb. Those same women were first at the cross, the first to witness Jesus resurrected and the first to tell of his gospel truth: the good king is alive!
