What Does Life With Jesus Look Like?

A life with Jesus is a life with One who knows you intimately, having known you before you were even born (Psalm 139:13-16). He personally knows your name, your struggles, your joys and fears, and your family of origin.

A life with Jesus is a life with one who gets it. Like you, Jesus had a job. He went to weddings and funerals. In Scripture, we see Him both laughing and crying, exuberant with joy at times and at others, longing for things to be different. Jesus experienced deep, meaningful friendships and also intense loneliness, the praise and adoration of others, and the horrible pain of rejection.

He knows what it’s like to be us with all the joys and pains of living in a fallen, crazy, broken world. And He promises to be with us (Matthew 28:20) in the midst of the ups and downs of life, offering hope, and peace, and meaning, and the ability to love freely and live fully. We will still struggle. People will still annoy us. Life will still be painful at times. We will still make mistakes. Sin doesn’t mysteriously go away, yet we no longer have to be enslaved to it.

Like any relationship, it takes time to cultivate a life with Jesus. Prayer, studying the words He left us in the Bible, service, finding community with others who follow Him, attending Polished – all of these are ways to nurture a life with Him.
