Throughout Canyons, Bible teacher Kat Armstrong helps us look closely at times that God’s people were in valleys of their own. In this first session, we go into the Valley of Eshkol with Caleb and the twelve spies. This story, found in Numbers 13-14, reminds us that obstacles may be in front of us, but we need to learn to look past the giants and focus on the promises that God has made.

In session 2 of the Canyons series, Kat tells us the stories of Deborah and Jael, two mighty women of the Bible who were able to step forward in courage. Their stories, told in Judges 4-5, reminds us that God will use us to serve and protect his people, even when it seems unexpected.

In the third part of the Canyons Bible study, Kat Armstrong teaches the familiar story of David and Goliath. While this story, from I Samuel 17, is familiar to anyone who spent time in children’s church or who understands the ubiquitous references to the two main characters, Kat reminds us that what God is trying to teach us is to stay brave when the odds are against you. God is our giant slayer.
Many people who grew up within Christian denominations are familiar with Psalm 23. In fact, several of us can quote this Psalm by heart. While we may quote this Psalm in times of trouble, in this session of Canyons, Kat Armstrong reminds us that these verses remind us to look to God in times of need. He is the one who will shepherd and lead us safely through the valley.
In the final session of Canyons, Kat takes us through Ezekiel 37 where the valleys are graveyards. However, even in this place of death, we can see that this death leads to a resurrection of new confidence in God.
