leadership positions

  • We are looking for catalytic leaders who love to start new things, sharing vision when recruiting, enjoy making a plan and empowering others to join the mission of God. The co-directors oversee the chapter program and all of the team leaders mentioned below.

    Likes: Communicating with key leaders in their fields, inspiring others in their faith and work, delegating opportunities so that others can flourish in their strengths

  • We are looking for a small team of women who love connecting with people on social and through our newsletters. These leaders have a sense of humor, an interest in culture and have excellent writing skills with a foundational understanding of brand management.

    Your team would manage your chapters newsletter and social media channels.

    Your work would include: updating the weekly email campaign sent to your chapter attendees, taking IG story pics 5-10 times during each monthly luncheon and any other major events we host, using Instagram at our events and following our social media posting schedule/outline during the week and posting the luncheon event details on your respective social media pages.

    Likes: Correcting grammar, finding typos, and saying something entertaining with as few characters as possible. Also relentless about brand management theme on IG accounts, loves posting and sharing stories on IG, Insta stalking and finding yourself 10 clicks away from your original click. We need 2-3 per chapter.

  • We are looking for 10 volunteers to serve their respective Polished chapters. These women are flexible and willing to serve in any capacity needed to make their events run smoothly. They value building community and work to make the women who attend Polished events feel like they belong.

    Some roles of ambassadors are:

    • Table Leading

    • Event Planning

    • Greeting

    • Registration and Roster Management

    Likes: Connecting with others, serving where needed, growing their professional network.

  • We are devoted to discipleship, and one of the best ways that we can do this is by partnering with wiser, older women who have a heart to encourage, empower, and uplift professional women in their faith and work. Polished advisors attend chapter events and step in where needed as greeters or table leaders. They also spend time encouraging and speaking into the lives of the women who are volunteering with Polished.

    Likes: Mentoring and inspiring younger women, sharking knowledge and life experience, stepping in when needed.

  • The Regional Director will help encourage our Co-Directors in each area chapter with prayer, connection points, and site visits. Much of the job is just loving on the Co-Directors so they know they are not alone in their mission work to reach their peers. They want a compassionate and loving mentor in their corner praying and cheering on their work.

    We need the Regional Director to make 2 site visits per chapter in a calendar year. Assuming your area has 4 chapters, that would mean attending 8 Polished events over the course of 1 year.

  • We are looking for leaders whose smiles and hospitality shape each guest’s experience at Polished. The most important thing you can do for our organization is make everyone who checks in at our events feel like they belong, they are important, they are loved by God and by us. Smile!

    CHECK LIST

    Before the event:

    • Print name tags using the RSVP spreadsheet that your Director provides to you two days before each event. Polished branded name tag templates for leaders and attendees are provided below. You’ll print name tags for your leaders only once. Your Directors will ensure you have name tag sleeves for the leader name tags. Each leader will pick up their name tag from you at the check-in table every month, and return them to you before they leave. You’ll print attendee names on sticker name tags every month.

    • Prepare and print out spreadsheets for check-in

    • Pack check-in supplies: name tags, pens, etc.

    During the event:

    • Arrive at event 10–15 minutes early

    • Bring check-in supplies: Pens, extra name tags

    • Smile and welcome all of our guests. A great question to ask when they arrive is, “What brought you to Polished today?” or “How did you hear about Polished?”

    • Sit at sign-in table overseeing sign-in sheets, name tags, and check-in.

    • 10 minutes before the lunch event is over, do a head count and compare it to the sign-in sheet attempting to catch all folks at the event and get their information.

  • We are looking for women who were born to be the event sensei. Those who are super organized, friendly, and love when events begin and end right on time.

    Your role with Polished is to ensure that we begin and end on time, all of our guests get their meal and a seat, our venue staff enjoy working with Polished, and our guest speakers feel appreciated.

    CHECKLIST

    Before the event:

    • Communicate with venue staff concerning headcount and the order of events before and during the event. Coordinate thank-you gifts for guest speakers. (It can be a simple thank-you card or a donated floral arrangement.) We’ve found that many local vendors want to donate to Polished for brand recognition. Since we do not pay our speakers we want to be sure to have a small gift of appreciation ready for them at the event.

    During the event:

    • Introduce yourself to staff at the event’s location

    • Arrive early enough to ensure proper room setup (30 min); work with venue staff to make any necessary changes

    • See to it that the event stays on schedule (queue emcee and speakers)

    • Make sure that the receipt for the event reflects the correct number of attendees and is signed and given to the director at the conclusion of the event

    • Choose giveaway winners and make sure to give them to the emcee

  • Leading a table at Polished takes courage. That’s why we recruit women to 1) help encourage our Table Leaders, 2) train the on-ramping of new Table Leaders, and 3) establish that we have enough table leaders for each event.

    You’re responsible for loving and caring for 2–4 Table Leaders per semester. Take them to coffee once every other month. Send them a prayer text before each event. Ask them how their table discussion went after each event. Make sure they are doing their follow-up and fill in the gaps when needed. Our hope is that the Director is pouring into you, you’re pouring into our Table Leaders, and our Table Leaders are pouring into our attendees.

    CHECKLIST

    Before the event:

    • Confirm that there are enough Table Leaders for each event. There should be 1 Table leader per 8–10 Polished attendees for every event.

    • Call Table Leaders on the substitute list to fill slots if needed.

    • Create and print discussion question sheets for each Table Leader. Your Director will provide the discussion questions for each event and it’s your responsibility to print those questions for your table leaders.

    • Prepare Table Leader packets with: 10 response cards, 1 pen, 1 Table Leader contact sheet, 1 discussion questions sheet

    During the event:

    • Reserve chairs for Table Leaders at each table. Set tent cards with their names at each reserved spot.

    • Give each Table Leader a packet, which includes: response cards, TL contact sheet, pen, and discussion questions.

    • Sit at various tables to observe and offer feedback to Table Leaders

    After the event:

    • Collect Table Leader packets, being careful to observe that each Table Leader fills out the contact sheet telling us who sat at their table. Also be sure to collect every response card so that we can follow up with anyone who gave us feedback.

    • Enter response card data into the follow-up Google spreadsheet by the Friday after the event.

    • After each event, contact Table Leaders via email to see how discussion went.

    • Review spreadsheet follow-up data to make sure each Table Leader is in fact following response card follow-up procedures, and to discover ways to best encourage and equip Table Leaders.

    • Take Table Leaders out for coffee to encourage and equip them.

    FOLLOW-UP

    We take follow-up seriously. Our outreach ministry depends on consistent and intentional pursuit of each woman we make contact with. To keep track of all the spiritual conversations and impact we have had, we must keep our follow-up organized. That’s why we need your follow-up spreadsheet for each event to have this super-long column header to include all the relevant information.

    ON-RAMPING NEW TABLE LEADERS

    After a new leader has submitted an application and met with you, your job is to ensure your new Table Leader receives everything she needs to hit the ground running.

    On-ramping responsibilities include:

    • Introducing her to our leader workbook, website and video trainings.

    • Connecting with her after she’s been invited to join Slack to ensure she has downloaded the Slack app and has been added to the appropriate Slack channels. Although you don’t have the “rights” to invite a leader to join Slack or add leaders to Slack channels, we want you to help us make sure that a new leader is up to speed on all things Slack. Your Director can invite leaders to join Slack and add them to channels.

  • Visualize yourself hosting Polished at your home. Our attendees are guests you’ve personally invited. When one of our attendees finds a seat near you, it’s like you opened the door to your own home to greet someone you’ve been dying to see. Treat them like they are now a part of your group.

    You make all your table guests feel at home and make sure they know the folks they are sitting next to. You guide discussion so that everyone feels included and heard. You lead with authenticity and ooze God’s love. And then it’s your job to follow up with everyone that sat near you to see if God might be opening a door for you to tell them about Jesus, invite them to church with you, or pray over their prayer requests.

    Before the event:

    • Pray

    During the event:

    • Arrive 15 minutes early to greet guests, check in with your coordinator, find your assigned table, receive your Table Leader Packet.

    • Facilitate table discussion in a gentle, yet assertive manner. Commit to be transparent as a leader. This makes it safe for others to engage in a real discussion.

    • Fill out the Table Leader contact sheet and return to Table Leader Coordinator so we know who sat at your table.

    • Assist guests with response cards.

    • Above all have fun, relax, and engage with other women.

    After the event:

    • Return response cards to Table Leader Coordinator.

    • Personally follow up on prayer requests and response cards from the ladies at your table. Follow-up needs to be done 48 hours after each event.

    • Update our follow-up spreadsheet after you follow up with each of your table guests. This is so crucial to our ministry.

    • Make it your goal to meet each month with at least one person who sat at your table. Make it your priority to seek out anyone who indicated on her response card a request for more information about a relationship with Jesus, visiting a local church, receiving a free Bible, or a prayer request.

    • If someone checks the box that they would like to volunteer, become a chapter friend, donate, or sponsor, your Director and Executive Director will follow up on those items. You concentrate on is the spiritual needs of your table guests.

  • We are looking for women who want to embrace the unique power to reach a generation of women with the gospel, since most of our attendees find out about Polished through social media.

    Facebook

    • Create events for all Polished gatherings, invite your team to the event, and then share the event. The FB Event must send folks to the Polished website to register for the event. A Facebook “attending” check mark is not sufficient to attend our events; guests have to register and pay on the Polished website.

    • Ask the speaker to post to her personal FB page about the event.

    • After each event, get the check-in list and invite attendees from the event to join the Chapter Facebook group (please ensure that the FB group is a public group).

    • After each event, add pictures from the event to the FB group and tag the women in the photos.

    • Post a link to the FB invitation to the Chapter Slack account.

    • Any time Polished is hosting an event in your area, please share it in the FB group

    Instagram

    • Ask the speaker to post to her own IG account about the event and/or invite her to do a IG live story with the chapter director

    • Post regularly to the account to invite women to the upcoming events. Currently, Instagram is our most powerful tool to invite women to our events but requires consistent, beautiful images

 
 

Time Commitment

  • Attend our monthly events, arriving early to each event, with a maximum of 2 absences during your one-year term.

  • Attend our monthly leadership gatherings with a maximum of 2 absences during your one-year term.

  • Participate in all online trainings and bi-annual local trainings in your area.

  • Commit to one year as a volunteer/ambassador and two years as a Director.

 
 
 

Above Reproach

We are not going to ask you to make any declarations. We will however remind you that if you are serving as a leader at Polished no matter where you go, whatever you post online, you bring the Polished brand with you. Leadership is an extra responsibility. Please take it seriously.

If you find yourself in a season where your conscience does not align with your level of leadership, we ask that you take a leave of absence. Hey, we are humans too. We get it. Really. In a big way. We are not going to judge you. And the door is always open to come back to leadership.

The Board of Directors does reserve the right to appoint volunteers and ask someone to take a leave of absence.

 
 
 

Conflict Resolution

You’re going to be volunteering with all women. Polished is committed to protecting a safe, kind, and generous working environment.. We extend love and grace to ourselves and others. However, it is inevitable that someone may hurt your feelings unintentionally. How we handle that determines how we heal.

If someone hurts your feelings we ask that you:

  • Sleep on it for at least 1 night and no longer than 1 month

  • Address that person directly in person or via the phone. Text and email is much easier, we know, but this is too important.

  • If it’s not something that gets resolved, we ask that you involve your Chapter Director, Regional Director, or National Director.
